Since sustaining a concussion in his freshman year, Raphael Arena continued to be successful both in the classroom and on the football field during his sophomore and junior years.
However, a freshman placekicker has been recruited, and Raphael is feeling insecure about his position on the team. He admits that at times he feels so down that he is considering not playing football in his senior year; yet, you know that he is passionate about the sport and is an exceptionally talented athlete. He is also quite stressed about having to make a career decision by the end of his senior year.
His coach tells him that he is likely to have an opportunity to play professional football, but his new wife worries about repeated concussions and is pressuring him to enter his father’s successful business.
Raphael shares that he is having difficulty sleeping and is often unable to concentrate on his courses.
He has also been eating more and not exercising, which has resulted in a slight weight gain.
